It's official. Chris Louie, Glenn Medina, and I wrote a book, and it's out now: Sales Engineering, Unfiltered: What We Wish Someone Had Told Us on Day One.
If you've listened to the PEBCAK Podcast, you already know the vibe. Three guys who've spent their careers in the trenches of sales engineering, saying the quiet parts out loud. This book takes that same energy and puts it on paper.
Why We Wrote It
Nobody hands you a manual on day one as an SE. You learn the job by watching demos go sideways, getting blindsided in a technical deep dive, and figuring out the politics of a deal the hard way. Most of what actually makes a great sales engineer gets passed down in hallway conversations, if it gets passed down at all.
The subtitle says it all. This is the stuff we wish someone had told us on day one. Not the polished, sanitized version from a training deck. The unfiltered one.
Who It's For
- New SEs who want to skip a few years of painful lessons
- Engineers thinking about making the jump into a customer-facing role
- Seasoned SEs who want to nod along, laugh, and maybe steal a few ideas
- Sales leaders and AEs who want to understand what their SE is actually thinking
A Huge Thank You
To Chris and Glenn, writing this with you was a blast, and a lot more work than any of us admitted at the start. To everyone who's listened to the podcast, sent us questions, and argued with us on LinkedIn, this book exists because of you.
